While last fall’s awards ceremony was in a non-traditional, Zoom format, the Community Foundation of Teton Valley’s Youth Philanthropy Program rounded out its 10th year – granting $44,000 to date. This amazing program instills the concept of philanthropy in high school seniors while funding specific needs within our nonprofit community. Through this avenue, the Community Foundation is able to both support local organizations and educate the next generation of philanthropists.
Youth Philanthropy Grants are funded through the generosity of Business and Community Challengers, and the Challenger Fund. Grants awarded range from a few hundred dollars to a maximum of $1,000. After a thorough discussion on the concept of philanthropy and how it effects our local community, funding decisions are made exclusively by participating students over the course of three classes.
This program allows the Community Foundation of Teton Valley to award supplementary funding while instilling, in graduating seniors, the importance and necessity of giving to support a community with one’s time, expertise, or treasure.
Thank you to 2020 Tin Cup Challengers who provided awards for 10 projects and made a real difference in our community.
