The Education Foundation of Teton Valley was awarded a $5,000 Competitive Grant to help fund Teton Valley Cares, a community-wide event in August that provides resources and combines efforts with community partners that address basic needs. This goal was satisfied by delivering services in three main categories for attendees: Health Services, Community Connections, and Take-Home Resources.
The atmospheric goal of this event is to make it feel “like a party” where everyone is welcome. Broulims donated ice cream sandwiches – enjoyed by kids and adults alike; volunteers smiled warmly as they directed families to different areas, friends connected; leaders of nonprofit organizations shared programming options with both new and existing stakeholders; kids grinned ear-to-ear when they got to pick out their new backpack or bicycle; families were provided with deep understanding about the resources available by conversing in their native language, and parents took home arguably the most important and valuable resource of all: knowing their community cares about them and the wellbeing of their family.
In conclusion, 142 students from 75 families attended Teton Valley Cares this year, marking the most community members served at this event. We hope to continue to grow this event to provide these critical resources to even more families. The Education Foundation of Teton Valley is grateful for the contribution towards this project made by the Community Foundation of Teton Valley and its generous donors.
