Classroom Sound System Pilot Project – $1,346
Efficiency and effectiveness are cornerstone values at the Community Foundation. We believe in offering all individuals the opportunity to succeed and thrive within our community. For this reason, we awarded Rendezvous Upper Elementary with a spring grant to purchase and implement a classroom audio system for its teachers. The system will put all students on equal playing ground for success, reducing inequities in hearing, access to teachers, positioning in the classroom and other learning impairments that can reduce students’ ability to hear their teacher.
Teton County School District 401’s mission statement is ‘Empowering our Students to Reach Their Full Potential.’ In busy classrooms today, many factors detract from students’ ability to hear, and listening is often the main channel to learning in an academic setting. Ambient noise, physical distance, hearing impairments and other factors can impede on student learning. Studies have shown that with audible sound enhancement systems, classroom management, discipline issues and test scores all improve. The Redcat Access System will reduce these variables, offering all students equal access to instruction.
Student comprehension, engagement and classroom atmosphere are expected to improve with the implementation of this state of the art audio enhancement system. This approach upholds the Foundation’s goal to be thoughtful in decision making, and act with integrity and objectivity. It also reflects our collaborative value to work together for an inclusive community. With this modern improvement, we can offer the valley’s students – our future generation – a more equitable path to academic success.
