It’s hard to believe it’s been a decade! Time flies when you live in a community enriched with the ideals of giving. Our community members consistently go above and beyond in donating valuable resources, time and money to the nonprofits and events that help make Teton Valley the exceptional home it is for all of us.
The Donald C. Brace Foundation and Karen Scheid are honoring the 10th anniversary of the Tin Cup Challenge by doubling their traditional contribution and donating a generous Leadership Gift of $100,000 to the Tin Cup Challenger Fund. This substantial investment in Teton Valley is a reflection of the incredible work that is being done annually by nonprofits in our community. Karen Scheid is the granddaughter of Donald C. Brace and a champion of the Community Foundation of Teton Valley as a board member since 2014. Karen believes deeply in the power of generosity to improve lives and that nothing embodies that more than the spirit of the Tin Cup Challenge.
This incredible gift supports the Community Foundation in their goal to raise 10% more donations to the Challenger Fund in honor of the 10th Anniversary this year. The Challenger Fund is multifaceted. It serves to cover the cost of the Tin Cup event – so that every penny donated directly to nonprofits stays with them. The Challenger Fund also provides matching grants for nonprofit donations collected during the Tin Cup giving period. Additionally the fund covers Competitive and Youth Philanthropy Grants awarded to nonprofits based on support of specific projects addressing local community needs.
For a community of our size to raise $9.5 million in donations over 9 years to ensure a rich experience for all who live here is truly an incredible story of which we can all be proud. Our community is unique in so many ways, but of import we are uncommonly community-oriented and philanthropic. Did you know that one quarter of all Teton Valley households participate in giving to nonprofits during the Tin Cup Challenge? With a median gift of $180/household we can readily begin to see the positive power of influence we have when we band together for the good of all.
As our community celebrates 10 years of giving, let’s keep the momentum generously provided by the Donald C. Brace Foundation and continue to grow the Challenger Fund. Consider becoming a community or Business Challenger with a gift of $1,000 or upping your gift this year in honor of a decade of dedication to generosity and the hard work our nonprofits do for Teton Valley. When our funds and efforts are united, it is a win for all.
The 10th Annual Tin Cup Challenge Giving period opened Friday, May 19th. Gifts to participating local nonprofits can be made online at www.tincupchallenge.org or by using the donor forms inserted in the Tin Cup Challenge brochures mailed to each postal box holder in the valley.
