The Teton County Fair Board was thrilled to be awarded a 2023 Competitive Grant for $2,000 to help purchase ten new picnic tables for public seating.
They are proud and grateful to provide safe and attractive seating for up to sixty people! The new pine picnic tables are beautiful, sturdy, portable, and inviting. These picnic tables are for public use year-round, serving several user groups, from school clubs and private parties to fairgoers. The Fairgrounds is a public space where the community can gather to enjoy many events that promote our Western heritage and rural traditions.
Many projects come to fruition at the fairgrounds by group effort, and the picnic tables were no different. They purchased the ten tables with the Competitive Grant, a grant from Silver Star, and some of their Tin Cup funds. The tables arrived in May, and a service day was scheduled with local Key Bank volunteers for mid-June. Fairgrounds staff used the tractor to unload the pallets of table pieces in the fair building. Fortunately, seven Key Bank employees, staff, and a few volunteers assembled the tables by the day’s end. This day allowed the group to get to know one another and share their stories of Fairground events and favorite fair memories. We were happy to provide VIP passes to those who wanted to attend our 100-year Fair in August!
The tables were done just before the summer of events, including various 4-H and other school clubs, community gardeners, private rentals, and seating during the Balloon Rally over July 4th. The tables were used the entire week of the fair, often being moved several times daily depending on activities and events.
The Fairgrounds is grateful for these tables that allow a place to sit and for folks to gather and enjoy one another.
