2021 Community Counseling Program – Awarded $5,500
The Community Foundation of Teton Valley was honored to award this grant to the Teton Valley Mental Health Coalition to fund its Community Counseling Program – which provides up to six free mental health counseling sessions per calendar year for Teton Valley residents experiencing a mental health crisis. The Foundation strongly supports programs that ensure the mental health and wellness of our Teton Valley residents.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resultant widespread increase in unemployment, loss of health insurance, lack of social services, and extreme isolation experienced by a large portion of Teton Valley residents, there has been an unprecedented increase in the need for free mental health care for individuals in emotional distress who would otherwise be unable to pay for these services.
This grant will allow the Teton Valley Mental Health Coalition to continue providing critical mental health counseling services to local residents in need and greatly increasing the organization’s funding capacity and financial stability for this essential community program. The organization’s Community Counseling Program provides funding for up to six free one-hour counseling sessions per year for Teton Valley residents in need. This program is intended to help mitigate the serious and sometimes life-threatening consequences of untreated mental illness in our community by improving access to mental health services for residents in crisis.
The Community Foundation commends the important work of the Teton Valley Mental Health Coalition and its effort to make mental health counseling services available to Teton Valley residents who are in need but are not able to afford such services.
