Consultant Support for Strategic & Succession Planning – Awarded $4,500
The Community Foundation of Teton Valley was honored to award this grant to the Teton Arts Council to hire a consultant for assistance in developing plans for board best practices, a strategic framework, and staff succession. The Foundation strongly supports the Teton Arts Council in its endeavor to develop plans for a strong organizational culture that will serve the organization’s needs now and for the foreseeable future.
Teton Arts provides crucial services for the residents of Teton Valley. Over the last 4 years, the organization has focused on growing programming and increasing community engagement in creative experiences. Program participation grew from less than 200 participants annually in 2016 to more than 1500 participants in 2019. In addition, the organization continued to make its programs affordable for everyone. With the onset of COVID in 2020, Teton Arts reduced its programs and experienced a nearly full turn-over of board members. During this time, it became apparent that Teton Arts needed to focus on implementing resilient systems to create a strong board and organizational culture that can endure staff and board turnover in the future. Moreover, the organization needs to support board training and sustainable succession planning to ensure that Teton Arts continues to offer its many popular programs and needed community services.
The Community Foundation grant will support the hiring of a consultant to train board members in best practices and develop a strategic plan, create succession plans for board members and staff, as well as fostering a positive board culture. These efforts will foster Teton Arts’ sustainability and resilience.
The Community Foundation commends the important work of the Teton Arts Council both in the creative experiences it provides Teton Valley residents and, in its efforts, to improve its administrative foundation for the future.
