Horse Shelters – Awarded $4,967
The Community Foundation of Teton Valley was honored to award this grant to HAPI Trails to purchase two portable horse shelters to increase their capacity by 8 animals.
Hapi Trails is regularly at an “at capacity” status with pens full of horses looking for their forever home. They have additional space available, but this space does not have shelter for the horses. The horses are outdoors 100% of the time and to do that safely they need shelter from the snow, wind, and sun. Adding two additional shelters allows them to open up two additional pens and house more than 8 additional horses. Building capacity is important, as Hapi Trails serves as the Large Animal Rescue for Teton County, Idaho.
Hapi Trails will purchase two shelters. Once the shelters are in place and water troughs are moved into the pens, additional animals will be housed. Meeting the needs of the horses and families in need in Teton county is central to the organization’s mission and they routinely have to turn away animals for which they cannot effectively provide care. Having additional shelters will allow Hapi Trails to say “yes” more often when their help is requested.
The Community Foundation commends the important work of HAPI Trails and their mission to support horses in need.
