Beautiful, creative, lively downtown Driggs!
In these challenging times, it is our community togetherness, even apart, that creates a sense of knowing that this truly is OUR ‘place’. The Downtown Driggs Association’s mission, to foster a vibrant and thriving downtown Driggs, drives our programming to strengthen and revive our downtown and remind us why we love this community.
Since our start in 2003, our programming has provided free art, music, theater programs, and main street activities for all to enjoy. In 2019 we hosted 185 artists, musicians, and actors reaching audiences of over 8,000. Arts-based programs have been key contributors to the wellbeing of our local economy. The incredible support of over 150 volunteers, local business sponsorships, and community partner collaborations make our free programs accessible to everyone.
As we focus on revitalization efforts during COVID, we’ve dedicated our time to helping our small businesses navigate the uncertainties and adapt to necessary changes. We’ve been actively providing access to local, state and national financial and business support resources. Our priority to support and promote the Driggs business community and local creatives has led us to implement several new projects including a new Driggs Business Directory on our site, a more robust social media presence to promote local businesses and share relevant community information daily, and a dedicated Driggs mobile app called DISTRX.
In the interest of offering innovative and safe arts and cultural programs this summer we’ll be hosting Artisans at Mugler during the Teton Valley Farmers Market on Fridays through early September, and we’re designing the first Driggs Plein Air Festival ONLINE Competition and Sale from July 27-Sept 7.
In the meantime, we’ve worked with over 30 volunteers to keep Driggs beautiful with whiskey barrel planters, and additional upgrades to Mugler Plaza. During COVID our socially distant, outdoor spaces including Mugler Plaza are becoming even more popular. Additions will include a lattice top cedar fence and steel picnic tables where everyone can enjoy an attractive space to play games, connect outdoors, and picnic.
With our 7th year of Main Street America accreditation from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Idaho Department of Commerce, we strive to promote our downtown as a cultural center that showcases our Driggs’ uniqueness.
Please consider supporting the Downtown Driggs Association through a TIN CUP donation at the Community Foundation of Teton Valley through July 24th, 2020.
