Workshops & Nonprofit Resources

The Community Foundation’s Nonprofit Workshops provide a benchmark for best practices while creating opportunities for nonprofit leaders to network and collaborate. With an understood need for physical capacity, the Community Foundation remodeled our office to accommodate a Nonprofit Community Space for local organizations to hold board and donor meetings in January 2020. While closed in the first year of the pandemic, this space has seen over 300 meeting participants since it reopened this June. Our long-running Equipment Rental Program maintains three event tents, 21 tables, 40 chairs, and…

Competitive Grants

Competitive grant opportunities allow local organizations to address critical community needs as they arise on an annual basis. In each grant cycle, thoughtful committees are tasked with weighing the breadth and impact of each project that’s funded. Working with high school seniors, during Youth Philanthropy, allows the Community Foundation to instill the impact of philanthropy in future generations while introducing students to local nonprofit work. Over the last two years, our Community Emergency Response Fund has also been hard at work. One of these grants helped fund mental…

Community Counts: HAPI Trails Horse Rescue

Horses have incredible hearing, with the ability to hear the heartbeat of a human from four feet away. In the wild, horses will synchronize their heartbeats to the other horses in the herd in order to sense danger more quickly. Studies have shown that domesticated horses will also use this tactic when interacting with humans, synchronizing to our heartbeats, thus sensing slight adjustments in our mood.  HAPI Trails has used a similar technique when working with troubled horses, consciously calming…

A senior’s Social Security check runs out before the…

Why It Matters: Seniors West of the Tetons

IT’S THE 90-YEAR-OLD MAN who comes to the Community Center in Driggs almost every weekday to participate in yoga or Tai Chi classes, and to have lunch. It’s the 70-year-old man escaping the cold in his car, where he spends most of his time during the winter, to read the paper, eat a warm meal, and visit with other residents. It’s the 5-year-old boys who’ve become friends because of their love of airplanes since their mom and grandmother have brought…
