About the Tin Cup Challenge Program

The Com­mu­ni­ty Foun­da­tion awards Match Grants through the Challenger Fund to nonprofits participating in the annual Tin Cup Challenge fundraiser. Thank you to the Tin Cup Business & Community Challengers who make this program and these grants possible!

Qual­i­fy­ing non­prof­it orga­ni­za­tions in Teton Coun­ty, ID, and Alta, WY, are invit­ed to par­tic­i­pate in the Tin Cup Challenge. See Eli­gi­bil­i­ty details in the Rules & Procedures and download the Important Dates.

The Com­mu­ni­ty Foun­da­tion pro­vides a secure web­page for your orga­ni­za­tion to view your Tin Cup donations. Click here to access your Tin Cup Gift Report. 

Dur­ing Giv­ing Period, your organization’s des­ig­nat­ed Tin Cup con­tact will receive an email with your user ID, as well as guid­ance on review­ing dona­tions. The Com­mu­ni­ty Foun­da­tion staff process­es gifts steadi­ly from the start of the Giv­ing Period through mid-August. 

All gifts are reviewed pri­or to post­ing, includ­ing online dona­tions, which cre­ates a delay between gift receipt and when gifts are vis­i­ble. Note that almost ⅔ of dona­tions arrive in the last week of the Giv­ing Period. You will be noti­fied when all gifts have been processed. We appre­ci­ate your patience!

The Foundation’s generous Challengers fund the Match Grant percentage that varies annu­al­ly based on the total amount of Chal­lenger dol­lars raised and the total amount of des­ig­nat­ed con­tri­bu­tions. The first $25,000 of each nonprofit’s des­ig­nat­ed gifts are eli­gi­ble for a Match Grant. In recent years, the Match Grant on these gifts has been approx­i­mate­ly 50%. This means the Match Grant for qualifying non­prof­its is approximately $12,500, depend­ing on the year’s match per­cent­age.

Join us for on the third Saturday in July at 9am at the Driggs City Park. The Tin Cup Challenge includes inter­ac­tive non­prof­it booths high­light­ing par­tic­i­pat­ing non­prof­its, competitive 10K, 5K, and Fun Run/​Walk, as well as a high­ly com­pet­i­tive Dia­per Der­by, and free snacks and beverages. Win­ners of each race receive prize mon­ey to donate to their favorite non­prof­its in the spirit of the day.

Par­tic­i­pat­ing orga­ni­za­tions are encour­aged to use the Tin Cup logo lead­ing up to and through­out the Giv­ing Period. The Marketing Guide, available in the Media Kit, is your one-stop shop for key dates, social media handles, hash­tags, mar­ket­ing tips and tricks, logos, booth infor­ma­tion, and more.

  • Donate dur­ing the Giv­ing Period.
  • Reg­is­ter to Run/​Walk (currently racentry.com, but should we eventually move this onsite? It does require payment for competitive registration) or have crawlers par­tic­i­pate in the Dia­per Derby.
  • Vol­un­teer before or dur­ing Event Day. 
  1. Receive and process all gifts to Tin Cup Fun Run and pro­vide tax receipts to donors.
  2. Pro­vide pro­mo­tion­al and mar­ket­ing pres­ence for Tin Cup and Event Day.
  3. Solic­it Chal­lengers to pro­vide a Match Grant.
  4. Pro­duce and exe­cute Tin Cup Event Day with the help of com­mu­ni­ty volunteers.
