Since that time the Foundation has rapidly deployed over $90,000 in grants to enable nonprofits to focus on providing vital, frontline services associated with and addressing the effects of the pandemic on our community. Although it has now been over 18 months since the fund was activated, the Community Foundation of Teton Valley recognizes…

Many thanks to our generous and talented photographers: C.W. Borrenpohl, Trish Boyd, Linda Swope, and Erica Tremblay. We greatly appreciate their efforts to capture this special day.

After a hard year for everyone, it’s good to feel the warmth and lightness of summer. For nonprofits that spent the pandemic reimagining programming, funding alternatives, and budgets, June 1st marked not only the beginning of a new season but also the beginning of something we can all count on – the Tin Cup Challenge. The Tin Cup Challenge provides a singular opportunity to give to numerous nonprofits with one simple transaction or to support the entire local nonprofit community with a Challenger donation. Through this model, the Community Foundation of Teton Valley has…

We are looking forward to a beautiful Teton Valley summer and are optimistic about starting to see you all in person, especially after this past year. As a community, we got through one of the most challenging times and ultimately, we are emerging out of the pandemic stronger together. You showed up for not only the Teton Regional Land Trust but for all Teton Valley’s important nonprofits. We learned a few things from the pandemic – being “stuck” in eastern…

Teton Rock Gym is more than just a climbing gym. It’s a special place where community members and newcomers can have a home base, a place to meet up, rain or shine, to make new friends, and spend time with family. Teton Rock Gym is a place where people build the kinds of relationships that make a place a home. For the children that come here, it’s a place where they are comfortable being themselves and feel safe to try…

Horses have incredible hearing, with the ability to hear the heartbeat of a human from four feet away. In the wild, horses will synchronize their heartbeats to the other horses in the herd in order to sense danger more quickly. Studies have shown that domesticated horses will also use this tactic when interacting with humans, synchronizing to our heartbeats, thus sensing slight adjustments in our mood. HAPI Trails has used a similar technique when working with troubled horses, consciously calming…

Throughout the pandemic, people acquired new pets and some people are feeling at a loss for what to do with their now 10-month-old large puppy who is barking constantly. Aska’s Animals will provide a progressive environment to provide people and pets of Teton Valley with the tools needed to be happy in their homes. Whether this is through behavior consultations, adoption, volunteer opportunities or providing sanctuary to homeless pigs in our region, we believe that all animals deserve a happy home…

Fall marks the end of a busy summer of fundraising for most local nonprofits. While the dust is settling on a full season of fundraising, plans should already be in the works for next year’s numerous events. With nearly 50 local nonprofits, Teton Valley businesses can feel the pressure of repeated requests for sponsorship, in-kind contributions, and donations throughout the year. In hopes of alleviating this consistent stress, the Community Foundation recommends nonprofits reach out to their anticipated sponsors in…

Plan your work, work your plan: It’s Fall in the Tetons. The leaves have been exceptional this year, but as the month progresses, so do the changes at the heart of this season. The colors are muting and blowing away, while a skiff of snow dusts the high county. Folks are putting up wood and animals are attending to their stores for the winter ahead. In the same vein, we’ve been busy expanding our nonprofits’ resources, knowledge base, and best…

As we move into this next season we’re not only saying taking leave of warm days, but also a warm personality that has graced our board for six years covering 2 terms. Missy Colyer first joined the board of the Community Foundation of Teton Valley in August of 2012 and later served as Treasurer and then Vice-Chair. In addition to the Executive Committee, Missy used her financial prowess, as a part owner of Chircop & Colyer, to guide the Foundation…

It’s getting cold in the Tetons and people are tucking in for the upcoming season of giving, gratitude and Youth Philanthropy! As the Community Foundation works to create a lasting culture of giving in Teton Valley, I can think of no better way than instilling philanthropy in our youth. One of our many annual programs, Youth Philanthropy allows High School seniors to simultaneously be immersed with a sense of responsibility for their community, while providing $5,000 in grants to local nonprofits. One of…

With supporters like you, we’ve elevated lives in Teton Valley over the last year through Youth Philanthropy, Competitive Grant Programs, and Nonprofit Workshops. Youth Philanthropy brings the Community Foundation into the classroom of high school seniors with three classes that serve to illustrate philanthropy in action and bring awareness to the local nonprofit landscape. In our most recent cycle, these emerging community leaders worked through real-world budget constraints and critical community needs to award $5K to 6 nonprofits. Students gain…

The intrinsic beauty of Teton Valley is magnified by our amazing views. The bounty reflected back by the generous landscape has instilled a spirit of largesse in our rural community. One of the unique and lesser-known aspects of the Community Foundation is our Community Catalyst Program. This program allows us to serve as a resource, convener, and community stakeholder for local nonprofits, donors, and the community at large to address crucial issues facing our locale. Last summer that allowed the Foundation to address a critical shortage of affordable childcare during the summer months. This pilot program worked with local nonprofits and the school district to provide a safe, affordable, and educational summer for students.…
