Job Description:Â
Teton Youth and Family Services (TYFS) has been serving the youth and families of Wyoming since 1977, helping them make impactful changes that will benefit themselves and their communities. Our facilities operate 24/7 365 days a year. Youth Care Staff are responsible for supervising our residents (ages 12-17) and building therapeutic relationships with our clients, creating a safe and predictable environment at either our residential treatment center, Red Top Meadows or our group home, Van Vleck House.Â
Through Red Top Meadows’ structured daily schedules and wilderness trips, Youth Care Staff are tasked with helping clients implement therapy goals/skills, meet programmatic expectations, build healthy self-care habits, and work amongst a group dynamic. Youth Care Staff support and mentorship can significantly influence a child’s development and future. This often leads to new outcomes that once seemed impossible, empowering participants to envision and achieve a brighter future. TYFS uses a combination of solution-based and cognitive behavior therapy strategies to help reinforce choices and behaviors through natural and logical consequences, assisting residents in developing internal self-control by highlighting new growth and change. Guided by our proximity to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, our programs are trauma informed and incorporate an adventure therapy component that combines outdoor skills, experiential learning, mindfulness, and communication. This unique approach promotes personal growth and resilience for our clients in a natural setting. Our organization operates five separate wilderness trips a year in the spring, summer, fall, and winter, including a self-supported backpacking trip on the Teton Crest Trail.
At Van Vleck House Youth Care staff will support youth placed in the group home in our Empowered Minds daily education program, school attendance and participation in extracurricular activities.
