Building an Effective Board with Appropriate Board Engagement

January 14 @ 9:00am 12:30pm

andrea

Having a strong and appropriately engaged board is key to a nonprofit’s success. It plays a big role in whether an organization can stay sustainable and make a real difference in the community. However, the idea of what “effective” and “appropriately engaged” mean, along with what’s expected, can be unclear and varies from one nonprofit to another.

Board members usually find it natural to support the organization’s vision and mission, and there are plenty of resources on how to handle financial oversight, their most obvious fiduciary duty. But when it comes to fundraising, partnering with the executive director, community outreach, and advocacy, effectiveness and engagement often drop off. These areas tend to be the toughest for board members and often don’t get enough support.

That’s why we’ve designed Building an Effective Board with Appropriate Board Engagement—to help address these challenges.

In this friendly, half-day workshop, you’ll have the chance to connect with fellow board members and E.D.’s, learn new skills, share experiences, have honest conversations, and gather practical tips and strategies. Our goal is to help you feel more appropriately engaged, thereby strengthening and making your entire board more effective.
