Life is rarely a linear experience. We all experience highs when we feel on top of the world, and lows when everything seems to go wrong. Financial strain can hit hard, making it feel impossible to keep up. Something as common as a sports injury can instantly throw a curveball in someone’s life and trigger a downward financial spiral if it prevents them from working. This is exactly what happened to a hard-working Teton Valley community member, who found the strength to advocate for themselves during a difficult time and reached out to the Community Resource Center of Teton Valley for support.

The Community Resource Center (CRC) was able to connect this individual with crucial local and regional programs, and provide emergency rent assistance through the in-house Quality of Life program. This ensured their most basic needs were met during a stressful period, and it made all the difference. Here’s what they had to say about the impact of CRC’s services:
“I have been living in Teton Valley for the past 4 years and have come to love and appreciate the local community. Cost of living here is high, but the outdoor access and the people here make it worth it! I worked hard, lived frugally and was able to make ends meet. Unexpectedly, I got injured and lost one of my jobs at the end of 2024. The Community Resource Center became of great help during this time of need! I was able to walk in and get assistance in several different ways. I was offered access to groceries (through the food pantry) and I was shown how to fill out two separate applications for energy assistance (one for LIHEAP and another directly through Fall River Electric – our local energy provider). I was also shown their website with available job listings in the area – so I could apply for other work.
Everyone at the office was very nice and welcoming. I did not feel judged or looked down upon. Alex, Willy and their other two co-workers were knowledgeable and helpful. I also received emergency rental assistance from the CRC in March of 2025 after being laid off from my only remaining job. I appreciate the effort and the resources given to me during this time of struggle – I was able to pay my rent and keep the lease to my apartment.
I am very grateful that the Community Resource Center exists in the Valley. It has made a very positive impact in my life. Thank you for that. I didn’t feel abandoned by the community I have learned to love!”
We deeply believe that when the people in a community have their most basic needs met, the community as a whole is happier, healthier and more united. Everything we do is in service of Teton Valley residents securing and maintaining these basic needs, which we define as safe shelter, utility connections, food, a source of income, access to healthcare and transportation, clothing, household and hygiene items. Our services are free and confidential for anyone in need of assistance.
