It is with great sadness that we received the news of Joselin Matkins, Executive Director of the Teton Regional Land Trust, untimely passing this past Friday. The Community Foundation of Teton Valley would like to express our most heartfelt sympathies to Jeremiah Keavney, John and Carol Matkins, and all of her loved ones that are mourning at this time. Joselin was a leader among leaders in our tight-knit nonprofit community in Teton Valley. She had established herself as someone that newer nonprofit leaders felt comfortable approaching and was an ever-present peer for those more established. This last July, it was with great honor that the Community Foundation awarded Joselin the Dawn Banks Leadership Award, only the 4th to be granted. These are just a few of the qualities that Joselin exemplified — she went beyond the normal scope of her responsibilities to further her organization’s mission, reached beyond her nonprofit and engaged with other nonprofits in the community through collaboration, sharing of resources, or other methods, and espoused leadership qualities that others should follow. Joselin’s absence in our community will be a void felt for some time, but the indelible legacy she leaves behind will forever be a reminder of her positive impact on our community.
Thank you, Joslin. May you rest in peace.
