Total Funds Raised During Teton Valley’s Premier Giving Event Surpass $1 Million
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Tin Cup Community Challengers and individual donors, the Community Foundation of Teton Valley is thrilled to announce the highest Tin Cup Challenge match percentage to date.
“The match percentage for the 5th Annual Tin Cup Challenge is 53%, up from the previous all-time high of 52% last year,” said Community Foundation Executive Director Shannon Brooks Hamby. “Teton Valley continues to inspire us with their commitment to improving the quality of life in our community through philanthropy, and through their generous support of our local nonprofits during the Tin Cup Challenge.”
With the support of 76 Community Challengers – 17 of whom were new this year – the Community Foundation of Teton Valley raised nearly $444,000 for the match fund, up slightly from last year.
“This year we did not have the additional incentive of an anonymous one-time $50,000 gift to the match fund, so that we were able to not only maintain, but increase the match fund, is a testament to the efforts of the Community Foundation Board and the continued generosity of our Community Challengers,” said Brooks Hamby.
Remaining available match funds will be distributed through the Community Foundation’s grants and programs. Thanks to the continued success of match fundraising, the Community Foundation anticipates maintaining the amount of funding available through grants over the coming year, and continuing the Youth Philanthropy Project in 2013.
Overall fundraising during the 5th Annual Tin Cup Challenge exceeded $1 million for the second consecutive year in the history of the event. A total of 807 donors contributed more than $1,121,000 through the Tin Cup Challenge. In five years, the Community Foundation of Teton Valley has raised over $1.7 million in match funds and through the Tin Cup Challenge, more than $4.8 million for the nonprofits in Teton Valley.
A total of 46 nonprofits participated in the 5th Annual Tin Cup Challenge and generated over $667,000 in designated giving, an increase of nearly 5% over last year.
