Why does Subs for Santa matter? Many living in our community would be quick to say that Subs for Santa brings our Valley together as one to help one another in our times of need.
In 1989, Subs for Santa was born because of a need to help a family in our community. A group of volunteers put together a Christmas for this family. The single mother of three wanted to give back to the generous community that made Christmas possible for her children.
Once she got back on her feet, she made Christmas possible for many other needy families. This volunteer was Jan Hall. Jan inspired others to take a stand. As time went on, it was clear that the need extended beyond Christmas. It was soon realized that Subs for Santa needed to be a year-round program. Gogie Reynolds joined the force and lead the program to include Easter, back-to-school, Thanksgiving, and vouchers for special needs. Under her guidance, Subs for Santa has evolved into a full-time entity that is necessary for our valley to thrive.
Teton Valley is constantly growing and life is ever-changing. One constant that remains the same is the generosity and compassion that surrounds the people of our community. This program is comprised of family members and selfless volunteers who want to make a difference in this world. Thanks to the good-hearted people in this Valley, Subs for Santa has helped hundreds of families over the years. Thanks to the support of the churches, schools, businesses, various youth groups, and individuals, this program has been able to grow to meet the ever-expanding needs of Teton Valley.
Subs for Santa would like to thank the people of our community and especially those who participate in the Tin Cup Challenge. It has been a true blessing to work with those who make our community what it is.
