This coming Saturday, July 15th, marks a decade of exceptional generosity in Teton Valley through the Community Foundation of Teton Valley and the Tin Cup Challenge. In our first nine years, together, we have raised $9.5 million for Teton Valley nonprofits. In turn, these tireless organizations have continued to grow and fulfill vital needs for our unique, rural locale.
On Saturday, residents from all walks of life will converge in the heart of Teton Valley to celebrate the impact nonprofits are making locally. Celebration Day serves to connect our community as a whole and recognize how our combined efforts can bring about incredible feats. This day is about applauding the uncommon generosity of our residents and their support of our nonprofits through charitable donations, countless hours of volunteerism and ready participation. The magnificence of Teton Valley is magnified through our involved community – a community in which the spirit of volunteerism and philanthropy flow as generously as the Teton River during high water.
The 2017 Tin Cup Challenge has a record 45 nonprofits participating in our 10th year of operation. Each of these nonprofits brings a unique service to our valley, providing innumerable resources for our rural residents. On Saturday, we honor these nonprofits as they in-turn showcase their programs and services through display booths and fun, family-friendly activities.
The day is a clear manifestation of generosity in action. In addition to the Community Foundation of Teton Valley beginning planning as early as December, it takes approximately 350 volunteers 1,000 hours to bring this event to fruition every year. This intense annual investment has been generously rewarded year after year – for 10 years already!
In this super active community, what better way to celebrate such open-heartedness than with a community challenge to participate in either a 5k, 10k or Fun Run! Start the day with the Opening Ceremony at 8:30 am before picking up a free breakfast, courtesy of McDonald’s© of Jackson Hole. Then welcome another beautiful Teton summer day by running with all your favorite friends and neighbors before returning to the Driggs City Center for a morning of family fun and entertainment in the plaza.
It’s clear that Teton Valley has been willing to accept the Tin Cup Challenge and take it far beyond the finish line for a clear community win. With one in four households donating a median of $180 in last year’s Tin Cup Challenge, don’t wait to be left at the start as your friends, family and neighbors take it to the finish line. Donate through July 21st at www.tincupchallenge.org to add your drop to the bucket. Together we’ll fill our Tin Cup to the brim in celebration of 10 years of working together to strengthen the effect nonprofits have in serving our community.
