The Community Foundation of Teton Valley hosts the Tin Cup Challenge Grant Program—an annual, six-week fundraiser that makes supporting local nonprofits easy and impactful. The Foundation promotes participating organizations and collects donations on their behalf. Fundraising culminates in a community celebration on the third Saturday in July, with races, nonprofit booths, and fun for all at Driggs City Park. Accept the challenge and make a difference!

One of the most innovative fundraisers in the nation, the Tin Cup Challenge is also one of the most successful:

Asked Questions

Qualifying nonprofit organizations in Teton County, ID, and Alta, WY, are invited to participate in the Tin Cup Challenge. See Eligibility details in the Rules & Procedures and download the Important Dates.

The Community Foundation provides a secure webpage for your organization to view your Tin Cup donations. Click here to access your Tin Cup Gift Report.

During Giving Period, your organization’s designated Tin Cup contact will receive an email with your user ID, as well as guidance on reviewing donations. The Community Foundation staff processes gifts steadily from the start of the Giving Period through mid-August.

All gifts are reviewed prior to posting, including online donations, which creates a delay between gift receipt and when gifts are visible. Note that almost ⅔ of donations arrive in the last week of the Giving Period. You will be notified when all gifts have been processed. We appreciate your patience!

The Foundation’s generous Challengers fund the Match Grant percentage that varies annually based on the total amount of Challenger dollars raised and the total amount of designated contributions. The first $25,000 of each nonprofit’s designated gifts are eligible for a Match Grant. In recent years, the Match Grant on these gifts has been approximately 50%. This means the Match Grant for qualifying nonprofits is approximately $12,500, depending on the year’s match percentage.

Join us for on the third Saturday in July at 9am at the Driggs City Park. The Tin Cup Challenge includes interactive nonprofit booths highlighting participating nonprofits, competitive 10K, 5K, and Fun Run/Walk, as well as a highly competitive Diaper Derby, and free snacks and beverages. Winners of each race receive prize money to donate to their favorite nonprofits in the spirit of the day.

Participating organizations are encouraged to use the Tin Cup logo leading up to and throughout the Giving Period. Download the logo files and refer to the Tin Cup Rules and Procedures and Brand Guide for branding and logo usage information. Contact Claire Vitucci with any questions.

The Marketing Guide, available in the Media Kit, is your one-stop shop for key dates, social media handles, hashtags, marketing tips and tricks, logos, booth information, and more.

  • Donate during the Giving Period.
  • Register to Run/Walk (currently racentry.com, but should we eventually move this onsite? It does require payment for competitive registration) or have crawlers participate in the Diaper Derby.
  • Volunteer before or during Event Day.
  1. Receive and process all gifts to Tin Cup Fun Run and provide tax receipts to donors.
  2. Provide promotional and marketing presence for Tin Cup and Event Day.
  3. Solicit Challengers to provide a Match Grant.
  4. Produce and execute Tin Cup Event Day with the help of community volunteers.

Tin Cup Challengers make this program and associated Match Grants, Competitive Grants, and Youth Philanthropy Grants possible.
