With supporters like you, we’ve elevated lives in Teton Valley over the last year through Youth Philanthropy, Competitive Grant Programs, and Nonprofit Workshops.
Youth Philanthropy brings the Community Foundation into the classroom of high school seniors with three classes that serve to illustrate philanthropy in action and bring awareness to the local nonprofit landscape. In our most recent cycle, these emerging community leaders worked through real-world budget constraints and critical community needs to award $5K to 6 nonprofits. Students gain a palpable sense of responsibility for their community and the importance of charitable giving through this program.
Our 2018 Competitive Grants Program funded 13 nonprofit grant projects with a total of $47,805. These funds promptly went to work to improve meals at Seniors West of the Tetons, address a lack of affordable childcare during summer months, stabilize local aquifer levels, and provide accessible ramps at the Teton Valley Museum – to name a few. The scope and breadth of work covered by these funds were both impressive and immediate.
The Tin Cup Challenge, our cornerstone grant program, celebrated further success in its 11thyear, raising over $1.5 million for 46 local nonprofits and $12.7 million to date. This program uniquely trains our community to give annually, while simultaneously providing sustaining funds for many of our local organizations. With the generosity of Challengers, the Foundation was able to award a Matching Grant of 50% for the first $25K that each organization raised this year.
Nonprofit workshops hosted by the Community Foundation help advance best practices across the local nonprofit landscape. Both board and staff members benefit from these in-depth, focused sessions that provide attendees with best practices, tools, resources and ready plans that educate, inspire and push the crucial missions of our nonprofits forward.
Together, we’ve leveraged Teton Valley’s nonprofit landscape to reflect the majesty of the mountains that surround us. With a year-end gift, you support the time and energy it takes to provide these programs to our community on an annual basis.
Peace and prosperity,
Tim Adams
