One of the unique and lesser-known aspects of the Community Foundation is our Community Catalyst Program. This program allows us to serve as a resource, convener, and community stakeholder for local nonprofits, donors, and the community at large to address crucial issues facing our locale.
Last summer that allowed the Foundation to address a critical shortage of affordable childcare during the summer months. This pilot program worked with local nonprofits and the school district to provide a safe, affordable, and educational summer for students. With collaboration and forethought, this pilot program was able to transform into the after-school program, whose federal grant money had been exhausted after a 5-year grant. As a result, 87 kids currently have access to free tutoring and academic enrichment opportunities after school.
