Jeannette was born in the Republic of Panama where she lived and worked for the Department of Defense until transferring to the Pentagon in 1993. Jeannette worked in the Federal Government for more than 30 years in several executive positions including auditor for the Government Accountability Office and budget director in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Following Federal service, Jeannette worked for the MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit corporation, for more than 10 years focusing on national security issues. Before relocating to Washington, D.C., Jeannette oversaw the implementation of sections of the Panama Canal Treaty by directing the relocation of all U.S. military medical services to the United States, as well as the transfer of medical facilities, including U.S. Army Gorgas Hospital (where she was the Operations Officer), to Panama.
She has used her extensive management and financial experience to support the communities where she lives by volunteering in various nonprofit organizations. In the Florida Keys, she runs a center of volunteers dedicated to providing free tax assistance to lower-income families, and here in Teton Valley, she volunteers with several nonprofit organizations. Jeannette doesn’t sit still long, if not hiking, biking, fishing, or working on stained glass, she is probably on a long-distance trek across Europe. Jeannette and her husband Bill Horn built a home in Tetonia in 2013 and immediately felt the sense of community and philanthropy that makes Teton Valley the place we are proud to be a part of, a place where “we take care of our own.” – “It is a real privilege to be on the board of the Community Foundation of Teton Valley which works to improve the lives of everyone in our community.”
