AI 101 for Nonprofits

This workshop will empower nonprofit professionals with a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its practical applications in the non-profit sector. Participants will learn how to harness AI to streamline tasks, enhance decision-making, and ultimately save valuable time each week.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how to access and effectively prompt a leading language model (LLM).
  • Engage an LLM to tackle a specific business-relevant function or task (see below).
  • Develop an action plan for one monthly task or challenge within your organization’s workflow, with AI facilitating automation, thought partnership, or quality improvement.
  • Identify the risks and opportunities associated with AI, specifically in areas such as:
    • Data Privacy: Protecting sensitive information, such as donor names and giving amounts.
    • Human-Centered AI: Ensuring a balance between AI support and human oversight.
    • Maintaining Authentic Voice: Understanding the importance of risk management in communication and the need for human approval on final outputs.
    • Decision-Making Theory: Utilizing AI to support, not replace, human judgment.
    • Voice Training: Ensuring AI aligns with your organization’s unique tone and voice.
