Tin Cup holds a special place in our hearts. It signifies the unwavering support and confidence, extended to Teton Regional Land Trust’s efforts, by our community here in Teton Valley. It is because of you that we can work with multi-generational farming and ranching families to protect the unique natural resources that support both the people and the variety of species that rely on our valley’s vital habitat.
In the face of increasing development and environmental pressures in Teton Valley, it is critical to conserve the working farms and ranches, fish and wildlife habitat, and scenic open spaces we value most. The direct impact of your gift through Tin Cup is the permanent protection of 12,836 acres in Teton County in partnership with 72 families, of which 29 miles is along the Teton River. Additionally, your support provides opportunities for community members to connect to nature and wildlife through the Teton Creek Pathway, the Woods Creek Fen Outdoor Classroom, and the annual Greater Yellowstone Crane Festival.
Teton Valley provides key habitat for spawning cutthroat trout, migrating waterbirds, raptors, and neotropical songbirds. Wetland habitat along the Teton River provides a home for moose, Trumpeter Swans, and Sandhill Cranes. Productive agriculture not only sustains our local economy, but also helps maintain an open and permeable landscape for migrating wildlife such as elk, and mule deer. These diverse habitats attest to the critical role that the Land Trust plays in protecting not only the ecological integrity of Teton Valley, but the interconnectedness of its wildlife and agricultural systems, ensuring a sustainable future for our community.
As we await the upcoming Tin Cup Race day on July 20th at Driggs City Park, we extend our gratitude for your support over the years in safeguarding Teton Valley’s cherished landscapes. Your partnership ensures a legacy of conservation for generations to come, as we truly could not do this work without the dedication and generosity of our community year after year. We hope we can count on your support during Tin Cup again this year!
