DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nObjectives:\n\n\n\n\nBoard self-evaluation\n\n\n\nParticipants will be able to describe a nonprofit board member’s key roles and responsibilities.\n\n\n\nParticipants can implement board best practices to create a board action plan.\n\n\n\n\nTopics:\n\n\n\n\nStrategy, Impact, and Evaluation\n\n\n\nNonprofit board legal responsibilities\n\n\n\nIndividual roles vs. collective role\n\n\n\nSkillbuilding around strategic governance skills\n\n\n\nBoard culture and connection to cause\n\n\n\nBoard structure and composition\n\n\n\nBoard meetings and processes\n\n\n\n\nBoard Training Certificate Course is designed to help clarify the roles, responsibilities, and best practices of a nonprofit board. At the conclusion of the series, attendees will leave having a better understanding of their roles, legal responsibilities, governance models, and governance skill building as well as board self-evaluation. Participants will create a board action plan based on their board’s needs and will receive an INC certification for use in their marketing efforts with funders and other partners, showing their commitment to strong governance practices.\n\n\n\nAbout Kevin:\n\n\n\nKevin joined the Idaho Nonprofit Center in July of 2021 after previously serving as CEO of the United Way of Southeastern Idaho. He brings past experience in both the education and social impact sector both internationally and domestically having worked in both Uganda and Chile. Kevin has directed federal grant programs related to college access for first-generation students and also directed community programs supporting financial stability for families immigrating to the US. In his free time he and his family love exploring the great beauty in the West by hiking, biking, and getting outside into nature. On Saturdays in the fall, you can find Kevin avidly cheering on his Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
